Woodbridge Township, NJ Join guest speakers Marilyn Dunning and Alan Jacobson of the New Jersey Lighthouse Society (http://www.njlhs.org/) for a special presentation on Lighthouses at the Woodbridge Main Library on Tuesday, October 3 at 7:00 PM.

This presentation will include a discussion of lighthouse history, structure, and characteristics. Topics include lighthouse keepers, governance, purpose, and how weather affects lighthouses. Historical facts about New Jersey lighthouses and keepers who were women will be highlighted.

Speakers Marilyn Dunning and Alan Jacobson are volunteer presenters for the New Jersey Lighthouse Society (http://www.njlhs.org/). They have been sailors for many years on the Chesapeake Bay, in the Virgin Islands, and in New England. They take tours throughout the United States and Canada to visit lighthouses on land and on the water.

Get ready for the Lighthouse Challenge of NJ (http://www.lhchallengenj.org/) on October 21-22, 2017 and learn about NJ’s own treasured landmarks!


According to its website The New Jersey Lighthouse Society was formed in 1989 as a state chapter of the United States Lighthouse Society (USLS). In 1994, the Chapter became the New Jersey Lighthouse Society. Its membership has grown to about 500 members.
