Cypress Park II Features Two Street Hockey Rinks, Soccer Fields, Playground, Lighted Walkway with Exercise Stations

Woodbridge, Twp. — Mayor John E. McCormac, the Woodbridge Township Municipal Council and Woodbridge PBA #38, announced the Grand Opening of the all-new Cypress Park II located at the expanded Cypress Park Recreational Complex in Port Reading.  The Cypress Park Recreational Complex was funded through $2.5 million in Recreational Facilities Special Needs Improvement grants from the State of New Jersey and the Federal government.

Cypress Park II, designed in compliance with ADA standards, completes the vision of the Cypress Park Recreational Complex – a multi-purpose facility that offers recreational, athletic, sport and special needs opportunities to the residents of Port Reading and Woodbridge Township.  Cypress Park II adds two new “state-of-the-art” street hockey rinks, refurbished soccer fields, multiple playground amenities with areas for children ages 2-5 and children 5-12, ADA accessible elevated bleachers for viewing hockey, lighted walkway path with exercise stations and comfort/restroom facilities.

According to Mayor McCormac, the Cypress Park Recreation Complex offers fully accessible facilities that provide handicapped and challenged residents of all ages, skills and experience with many and varied sport and play events. The Level Playing Field accommodates youth baseball, softball and soccer, a walking/running track around the entire complex affording special needs residents the opportunity to enjoy the mental and physical benefits of sports participation.  Additionally, the custom-designed field and facilities include wheelchair access ramps and equipment that is fully compliant with federal, state, county and municipal ADA and safety standards.  Additional sport amenities include volleyball and pickleball courts with high efficiency LED field lighting for nighttime play.

The Cypress Park Recreational Complex includes the Cypress Center, a facility that serves as home to the Our House Program – a nonprofit organization that provides innovative day programming, employment and recreational services to adult individuals 18 and older with developmental disabilities.  Our House offers an environment that supports career development through vocational exploration, community integration and interpersonal skill development. As part of the Cypress Center’s commitment to the Our House program and to the R.I.S.E. (Reaching Individual Student Excellence) students and young adults, the Center operates the Mayor Mac Café’ and supports a fully-outfitted, ADA accessible temperature regulated greenhouse which offers students learning experience of growing, eating and sharing healthy foods from seed-to-harvest.
