Woodbridge, NJ – Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today highlighted the federal funding he secured for Woodbridge Township in the Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development spending bill to repair existing walkways and construct new ones along the Township’s waterfront. President Biden signed the underlying legislation into law on March 8.

Woodbridge will receive $4 million to construct a new footpath and repair dilapidated pedestrian footpaths along the Arthur Kill as a part of the Sewaren Waterfront Walkway project. The new footpaths will connect the marina to the Cliff Road neighborhood, providing city residents with new and enhanced access to the waterfront, local and county parks, and the marina.

“I’m proud to announce today that I’ve secured federal funding for Woodbridge Township. This funding will allow Woodbridge to make critical repairs to walkways and construct new ones so that residents have safe and easy access to the waterfront and local parks,” said Pallone. “This funding will help revitalize the area around the waterfront and bolster economic development in Woodbridge. I’m looking forward to seeing the new development once it is completed.”

“Woodbridge Township stands in partnership with Congressman Frank Pallone’s Community Project Infrastructure funding initiative that supports the Sewaren Waterfront Walkway project – a major economic and community development initiative that will enrich Woodbridge Township and neighboring communities,” said Mayor John E. McCormac.

“The Woodbridge Waterfront Walkway stands as the key to the ongoing redevelopment of the Sewaren section of the Township and represents a major investment that will provide residents with new amenities, including access to parks and Green Acres Open Space situated along the Arthur Kill tidal strait leading to the Raritan River – once considered to be the Jersey Shore’s original coastal destination.  The Waterfront Walkway will unlock additional community development and economic investment at the newly constructed Sewaren Marina, along with outdoor dining options, an enhanced dog park area and a much-needed and long-awaited pedestrian footbridge that will provide access to the Alvin P. Williams Middlesex County Park,” McCormac concluded.
