On Monday, May 25, 2020 at 11:00 am, Mayor John E. McCormac along with the Woodbridge Township Municipal Council and the Woodbridge Township Veterans Alliance hosted a Memorial Day service and flag-raising ceremony outside the Woodbridge Township Municipal Building in honor and remembrance of our Veterans. The Young Marines, under the direction of WB Police Officer, Eric Ransom, Advanced the Colors and raised the flag as Paul Deleo played the bagpipes and doves were released into the sky. Stu Brandow, US Army WWII Veteran, along with Mayor John McCormac, placed a wreath at the memorial to honor fallen service personnel.   The Woodbridge Township Veterans Alliance represents the various Veterans organizations that provide services and support to Township Veterans and enlisted service personnel. Because of social distancing, normal Memorial Day services were unable to be held at the different locations so instead 2 members from each of the posts stood in solidarity to remember those who gave their lives. Those representing their posts were:

  • American Legion Post #87 – Commander Mike Jarnutoski and Ray Deliman
  • American Legion Post #248 – Commander Juan Carlos Arencibia
  • American Legion T. Nulty Post #471 – Commander Ray Orris and Gene Bernhardt
  • VFW Memorial Post #1352 (Hopelawn) – Commander William J. Wisk
  • VFW Memorial Post #4410 (Woodbridge) – Commander Al Jankowski
  • VFW Memorial Post #6061 (Colonia) – Commander Bill Curia
  • VFW Memorial Post #7164 (Avenel) – Commander Gerald Malone
  • VFW Memorial Post #2636 (Iselin) – Commander Vinny Lupiano
  • Kevin Reinhardt Marine Corps League & Montford Point Marines – Commandant Gary T. White
  • Disabled American Veterans Post #56 – Commander John McKintosh and George Schnepf
  • United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 04-04 Station Sewaren – Commander Mike Rebeck and George Reilly

Special thank you to John Eberhardt, Woodbridge Township Veterans Alliance Coordinator and John Hagerty, Woodbridge Township Communication Director for organizing this very heartfelt event.

God bless our troops and thank you to all those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
